Orthopedic Material Expertise

Centex by Fathom’s highly-skilled machinists are experienced with a wide variety of orthopedic materials including titanium alloys, CoCr alloys (wrought and cast), UHMWPE, 300 and 400 series stainless steels, precipitation hardening stainless steels, celcon (acetal), delrin, and phenolics.

Centex Machining Operations

Engineering

All project quotes are reviewed by the engineering, operations, quality and production control teams. The experts at Centex by Fathom understand the importance of smooth transitions from quoting through to production. During the quoting process, possible manufacturability issues and any potential cost reductions are assessed and reviewed directly with the customer.

Once the project is accepted, engineering will outline the production router and create any additional documents or internal CAD’s needed to process the product. This may include customer specifications and procedures as well as industry standards (e.g. ASTM, MIL, etc.) which will be detailed on the router to assure compliance at each and every operation. Additionally, engineering will work with quality to develop the inspection plans for the in-process and final inspection steps.

Following production, the job will be reviewed by engineering and operations for any possible improvements that can be made within the established process. Any processing issues will be addressed through corrective actions or other methods to assure future orders do not have repeat issues (as applicable).

Operations

Operations are managed through controlled and established processes for repeatable and reliable results. All processing materials in the production area are defined in a documented and controlled procedure to assure all possible contacting agents are known and acknowledged. Detailed work orders assure accurate processing. Job tracking is maintained through an ERP system for real-time job status and performance.

Centex exclusively operates Mazak CNC mill and lathe machinery. This common platform eases the cross training process and creates a familiar machine control for our machinists. This allows Centex the flexibility to quickly move resources to areas with increased demand.

Operations run 24 hours 5 days a week to allow maximum asset utilization. Our production scheduling and the ability to quickly move resources allows for rapid deployment of production increases without compromising quality or delivery demands.

Production Control

Centex operates an integrated ERP system to assure accurate tracking and planning of all jobs both internal and at OSP operations. Every step from initial quote, raw material orders, job schedules, work order processing, OSP operations, and invoicing are managed through the ERP system.

Daily cross functional meetings are held to assure all areas of the organization are aware of current orders as well as upcoming projects. These meetings assure that all key personnel are aware of any production issues, upcoming and new production requirements and immediate needs are addressed promptly and accordingly.

The production control team handles all OSP details and raw material buying through the use of approved and monitored suppliers. Total compliance is critical and our supply base is no exception.

Quality Management System (QMS)

Centex’s QMS operates under the most stringent operating principles available. Centex adheres to ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 international quality standards as well as FDA regulations, including cGMP.

Maintaining these quality certifications signifies Centex by Fathom’s investment in both equipment and professional personnel. It also reassures customers that the processes are proven and repeatable, inspections are precise, and all delivered products meet customer requirements every time. Additional areas can receive drop shipped parts or be served by other Fathom facilities that span the entire United States across the areas of additive, CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication and over 25 different manufacturing processes.
